Meeting Kate at last...

Kate Inyi Allen turned two years old on April 30th.  If you know Kate's story, then you understand why Bill and Jeanine, her adoptive parents, gave her the Quechua middle name of Inyi.  It means "God will provide".

They brought this beautiful black-eyed baby home from the hospital the very day she was born having been begged by her Quechua birth mother to take her and be her parents...to adopt her for life.  Needless to say, they fell in love with her...along with the rest of the family.

If you know Kate's story, then you know the prayers that have been fervently prayed over the past two years...and will continue to be prayed as Bill and Jeanine proceed with her adoption in the face of Peruvian politics and regulations.

Katie...Katie...Katie!

Meeting a new granddaughter for the first time is an experience to remember...

Kate had been napping when Bill picked us up at the airport, but she was awake by the time we arrived home.

What captured my attention first were those amazing black eyes with the long fringe of lashes around them...and then she smiled and those eyes danced!

Kate is a dynamic little bundle of non-stop energy!!  She loves to sing, especially with Noelle and Sarah.  She dances the minute she hears music.  She's fearless!  She'll climb to the top of the tall slide with the rest of the children and doesn't hesitate for a minute sliding down!  I once caught her trying to climb out the upstairs window and she'll leap into your arms whether you're ready or not!  She loves anything and everything to do with Pooh, and when she's watching POOH is probably the only time she'll sit still or if you're reading to her since she also loves books.  Oh, and did I mention that she's not quiet or timid!

She's bilingual...simultaneously learning English and Spanish.

I taught her to play hide-and-go seek while I was there.  She thought that was fun and shared the laughter to prove it.

She wants her floppy white rabbit when it's time to go to sleep.

She loves her Mommy and Daddy and sisters so much.

She loves her adopted big brother and sister, Vladi and Evelyn.

and she was saying Grandmommy before I left to return home...
