Vladi and Evelyn...

One unexpected blessing that I found in Peru was the addition to my life of two wonderful young people who now also call me Grandmom.  Bill and Jeanine have taken these two young adults into their hearts and family.  

Vladi and Evelyn are brother and sister.  Vladi is twenty and Evelyn is seventeen.  There is also a fifteen year old sister they rarely see.  Their mother died when they were very small, and their poor father did not want and would not assume the responsibility of raising three children.  Consequently, they were left with other poor relatives and essentially to fend for themselves. Each has memories of a short hard life, but along the way, thankfully, both Vladi and Evelyn became Christians.  

They're active in church, especially the youth group activities.  Bill and Jeanine have encouraged each of them to continue with their educations.  Both are good students.  Vladi has been accepted and started in the Dental program at the university there.  Evelyn has been taking English classes and will start at the university soon.  She likes to cook and would like to study to become a chef.

Evelyn comes every morning to take care of Kate while Jeanine home schools Noelle and Sarah.  She also helps Yolanda, who is her Aunt, with some of the cooking.  With a quiet sweet spirit, Evelyn has a ready smile.  Vladi is doing well in dental school and is thriving with the love and encouragement he has found with Bill and Jeanine and their family.
